Why Don’t I Feel Happy Anymore?

I hear this question so much more than I wish I did, and it breaks my heart every time.  Life is precious, you give so much of yourself to the people you love, and you deserve to enjoy the time and energy you have for yourself (even if it doesn’t feel like much!).

Many of the women I work with have struggled with this question, and some have been to their doctor who ended up prescribing them an antidepressant.  For some women that was enough, but for the women I see the antidepressant was not a good fit because it didn’t help rebalance their moods, took away their sex drive (which only made their relationship struggles even more difficult), made them gain weight.  An antidepressant medication is not a one size fits all therapy.

The good news is this: there are a lot of reasons your mood may have shifted more over recent years.  A lot of them can be fixed with functional medicine, which blends your story with lab work to understand the root cause of the problem and fix it.  This is how many women get their lives back.

Here’s what I tell my patients all the time:

You deserve a solution, not an antidepressant.  Let’s dig in and find you one.

Because life is short, and you deserve to be happy.
